Vintage Football Shirts from around the world

Throughout the centuries and across many countries, the culture of football has always been present, albeit with many differences. Vintage football shirts are closely linked to the concept of football as we know it today. Modern football originated in England, specifically in British colleges. Indeed, it began as an elite sport played by those who could afford an education or attend university. Specifically, college classrooms consisted of ten students and a teacher who took to the field together, hence the custom of playing with 11 players. Thus was born the role of the captain, who, just as the teacher led his students, so the captain must lead his team. In 1848, at Cambridge University, a small delegation of English clubs and schools laid the foundations for the first rules, and in 1857, the first football team in history was founded in Sheffield by Nathaniel Creswick: Sheffield FC. From this moment on, football began to spread throughout Europe. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was subsequently founded in 1904, to which the various national federations affiliated. All teams began playing in their own kits, with colors and crests that identified the clubs. With the liberalization of sponsorships, those same kits have become historic football shirts worthy of collection.

Original Historic Football Shirts

Football is rapidly spreading across Europe, becoming one of the most popular sports on the continent. Among the most exciting leagues that have shaped the history of football itself are the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, and Eredivisie.

The Premier League was founded in 1992 after 22 English teams decided to leave the First Division, founded in 1888, to gain the freedom to negotiate television rights. In its nearly 30-year history, the English league has seen many teams reach first place, but among the vintage football shirts, those of the big four—Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United—are certainly memorable.

Germany is home to the Bundesliga , the top division of German football. The first match was played in the 1963/64 season, although the championship dates back to the early 20th century. Among the unforgettable retro football jerseys are those of Bayern Munich, the most prestigious club in the German league, Borussia Dortmund, and Wolfsburg.
