Udinese Historic Shirts: The Vintage of the First Bianconeri
Udinese It is one of the oldest teams in the Italian championship. One of the first matches was played in Rome in 1896 in front of King Umberto I, Queen Margherita, and approximately twenty thousand spectators. This victory was never recognized by the FIF (the current FIGC), which was founded two years later, because the promoting body did not adopt the IFAB rules of the game. From the year of its foundation to today, the Udinese shirt It has never undergone any particular changes and the reference colors have always been black and white. Originally it was completely black with a white star on the chest, but from 1910 onwards black was applied as details on the collar and the sleeve edges. In 1930 the vertical stripes were definitively introduced on the Udinese football shirt. As for the second and third shirts, there is no standard uniform but ranges from yellow to blue and from pink to orange. Udinese coat of arms It has undergone several changes, in fact, the company logo used until 1980 was a stylised zebra and then subsequently became more sober in the 2010/2011 season with a circular shape with a grey background surrounded by laurel leaves. In the 54/55 season Udine also came close to a championship, won that season by AC Milan would remain in Serie A for a full five years. Furthermore, in the 1970s, the black and whites were among the first to introduce a sponsor on their kits. Then-president Teofilo Sanson circumvented the FIGC's ban by applying the logo of his ice cream company to their shorts. Sanson was, of course, fined and forced to remove the sponsor, but the Friulian initiative paved the way for the liberalization of sponsorship in Italian football in the following decade.
Vintage football shirts: Udinese from the 80s, 90s, and 00s
The 80s did not start well for Udinese Calcio who were relegated to Serie B. In the 80/81 season the new coach arrived on the Juventus bench Enzo Ferrari , who managed to secure survival. This season, Teofilo Sanson sold the club to Zanussi, and Lamberto Mazza became the new president. With the liberalization of sponsorships for the 1981/82 season, we see an 1980s-style Udinese jersey that distances itself from the typical vertical stripes. Instead, they take to the field wearing a white-background kit with a black center post. The technical sponsor was Americanino and the official sponsor was Zanussi. The 1990s arrived, and Udinese was constantly bouncing between Serie A and Serie B. A memorable kit is certainly the 1994/95 third jersey, in true 1990s style, featuring geometric shapes, an electric blue color, and a contrasting white collar and trim.
