The 2010/2011 season was a thrilling one for Padova, as they came close to securing promotion to Serie A. Managed first by Alessandro Calori and later by Dal Canto, the team finished fifth in the regular season and qualified for the playoffs. After defeating Varese in the semifinals, they faced Novara in the final but fell short, missing out on a return to Serie A after more than a decade.
