The FIGC had to modernize several stadiums and build new ones, there were 24 deaths at work. During the inaugural ceremony, a model from each continent paraded in high fashion clothes by Italian designers. The song "Notti Magiche", famous in the years to come, is the Italian version of the international anthem of the World Cup produced by Giorgio Moroder. The name of the mascot "Ciao" was chosen through a contest with the collaboration of Totocalcio. Italy headed towards the final victory with victories but was defeated in the semi-final in a dramatic penalty shootout by Maradona's Argentina in his "San Paolo".
