La maglia è bianca con inserti azzurri lungo le spalle e sui fianchi, maniche corte e colletto con bordo azzurro. Le tre strisce Adidas percorrono la zona superiore delle maniche; sul petto si trovano il logo tecnico, lo stemma OM sormontato dalla stella e la scritta Direct Energie in blu scuro. Il tessuto mostra pannelli laterali e cuciture curve che accompagnano la linea del busto. Il retro è prevalentemente bianco, con una finitura azzurra intorno al collo.
Il Marsiglia di Éric Gerets affrontò un campionato 2008/2009 combattuto fino alle ultime giornate con il Bordeaux. La squadra chiuse al secondo posto in Ligue 1, alle spalle dei girondini, e raggiunse i quarti di finale di Coppa UEFA prima di essere eliminata dallo Shakhtar Donetsk. Al termine della stagione Gerets lasciò la panchina e venne scelto Didier Deschamps. La maglia appartiene alla stagione che precedette il ritorno del club al titolo di Francia nel 2010.
