Historical Anecdote

Adrian Mutu led Romania during Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. He scored against Italy in the group stage, only to miss a crucial penalty saved by Buffon. Despite Romania not advancing, Mutu solidified his status as the team’s talisman, ending his international career with 35 goals in 77 caps, tying Gheorghe Hagi’s all-time scoring record.
