ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

On June 30, 1990, the quarterfinal was played at the Olimpico in Rome between the hosts, Italy, and the surprising Ireland coached by Jack Charlton. The match ended 1 to 0 in favor of the Azzurri, thanks to a goal scored by Schillaci, which allowed the team to continue on the path towards the coveted final that, according to many, should have been the minimum objective to reach.
