The 1988/1989 season of Napoli can be said to be positive. The disappointments in the homeland of the failed Scudetto and of the Italian couple, vanished in the double final against Sampdoria, were mitigated by the conquest of the Uefa Cup in the double final against Jurgen Klinsmann's Stuttgart. The 1980/81 season was thrilling for Napoli, which ended its journey in the league in third place with 38 points earned in 30 days, less than 6 from the Juventus championship. he Serie A championship, 1983/84 season, sees Napoli save themselves in the final stages, with a point of advantage on the relegation block. In the first part of the championship, Pietro Santin, fresh from three seasons with Cavese, sat on the blue bench. Santin was relieved of his post after 20 disappointing matches, with Napoli stuck in the middle of the relegation zone.
