ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

The Italia 90 World Cup is the last one organized by Italy to date. The hosts made it to the semifinals and were eliminated on penalties by Maradona's Argentina at the "San Paolo" in Naples. These were the World Cups of the Notti Magiche of Bennato and Nannini and of the goals of a surprising bomber, Totò Schillaci.

ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

The 1990 World Cup in Italy was one of the most technological and work began on it starting in 1987 under the direction of the president of the Organizing Committee, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. The FIGC had to modernize several stadiums and build new ones, there were 24 deaths at work. During the inaugural ceremony, a model from each continent paraded in high fashion clothes by Italian designers. The song "Notti Magiche", famous in the years to come, is the Italian version of the international anthem of the World Cup produced by Giorgio Moroder. The name of the mascot "Ciao" was chosen through a contest with the collaboration of Totocalcio. Italy headed towards the final victory with victories but was defeated in the semi-final in a dramatic penalty shootout by Maradona's Argentina in his "San Paolo".

Goalkeeper uniform of the Italian National Football Team used for the qualification to the World Cup of USA 94. On the front, on a grey background, there are orange painted inserts, a particular variant of the uniform then used during the World Cup. The FIGC crest is sewn onto the heart side, while the number 1 is applied to the back.

ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

The USA 94 World Cup was the World Cup of Sacchi and Baggio. Italy risked leaving the competition on several occasions, but managed to make it to the finals, then lost on penalties to Brazil. The goalkeeper of the expedition was Gianluca Pagliuca.

Third Roma short-sleeved match shirt in blue with yellow and red inserts. On the front of the uniform we find the logo of the commercial sponsor Mazda applied in white, the Roma logo sewn on the heart side and the Diadora logo applied on the right side. On the right sleeve is the Lega Calcio patch, a special patch used only for the first half of the season and then replaced by one with a full background. The Diadora logos are embroidered on the sleeves, while the CASSANO lettering and number 18 are applied on the back. 

ANECDOTES AND CURIOSITIES

This particular uniform was worn on the occasion of the match between Perugia and Roma, which ended 1-0 for the Giallorossi. Antonio Cassano, a very talented player with a whimsical character, was sold by Roma to Real Madrid after 5 seasons but did not achieve the success he had hoped for and moved to AC Milan after just one season.

The 1986 World Cup was the first one won by Diego Maradona as a protagonist. His memorable goal against England, considered the most beautiful in the history of soccer, in addition to the famous goal scored with his hand, "La Mano de Dios". Italy went out in the eighth round beaten by France.

Fair start to the championship of Padova 96/97 in the cadet championship. The first 10 matches of the first round saw the Venetian team total 15 points (4 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats).
