The 96/97 season is that of the centenary for Udinese, under the technical guide Alberto Zaccheroni; the coach from Romagna lined up the team with his usual 3-4-3 with a trident made up of Bierhoff, Poggi and Amoroso that brought the Friulians to an excellent fifth place.
